Russian newspaper: How did Moscow overcome the West by withdrawing from the grain deal?

The Russian newspaper Vzglyad explained the way in which Moscow overcame Western criticism in the issue of withdrawing from the grain deal, noting that Russia began reaping the first fruits of the political decision to withdraw, which it described as the most important in recent times.

And the newspaper stated - in a report prepared by Dmitry Skvortsov - that Russia's withdrawal from the grain deal was one of the main topics raised for discussion during the Russian-African summit held last week, as many African leaders asked Moscow to resume participation in this agreement. The writer said that the reasons that forced Russia to take this decision still exist.

Providing free Russian grain to the poorest countries

Russia will get more taxes, and when you get more of them - as confirmed by Russian President Vladimir Putin - Moscow will share some of the income with the poorest countries by providing certain amounts of food for free. And if the International Monetary Fund's predictions of a 15% increase in the price of wheat come true, the Russian agricultural sector will earn an additional $1.8 billion

The writer added that Russia's withdrawal from the agreement led to an improvement in the position of Russian farmers and the state in general, as it raised grain prices in the global market, which means more revenues for Russian companies and the Russian government, noting that Ukraine and Western farmers will be among the biggest affected by Russia's withdrawal from the deal. cereal.

The writer stated that the disappearance of Ukrainian grain from the global market has doubled the need for Russian grain, which is hampered by problems related to logistical services. However, the global need for wheat is an incentive to look for ways to overcome these problems, especially since maintaining a high level of grain exports raises domestic purchase prices within Russia and increases foreign exchange earnings from grain exports and taxes from all participants, including farmers and utilities. Warehousing, railways and port terminals, which increases the balance of foreign trade.

"Western propaganda trick"

The writer believed that the arguments that Ukrainian grain helps fight hunger in the poorest countries is just a publicity stunt, because throughout the duration of the deal, the share of the poorest countries did not exceed 3% of the grain exported from Ukraine, that is, less than a million tons, while Western European countries got It contains most of the Ukrainian grain, including feed grain, and its entry into the market has reduced feed prices for the livestock and poultry sectors of European agriculture.

The writer stressed that the promise made by Russia - represented in increasing the supply of grain to the poorest African countries free of charge - is not only a handout, but is designed to compensate for the possible increase in the price of food grains. These supplies will help local farmers to sell grain for which there are no storage facilities, and purchases and delivery of grain to hungry countries will be carried out on budget.
